What we expect from players

Our games are friendly, mixed ability and self-refereed. The short version is that you play like someone who wants to be invited back, and almost everybody does.

There is no referee

The organiser sets up the game, makes the teams and keeps the time. They do not call fouls. That works because people call their own, and it stops working the moment someone decides winning a Tuesday evening pickup game matters more than the other thirteen people enjoying it.

If there is a disagreement, the convention is simple: whoever is less sure gives way, and play restarts.

Tackling

Keep it sensible. Everyone here has work in the morning, and most people are playing on artificial turf that punishes a slide. Nobody minds a firm challenge. People mind the one that was never going to reach the ball.

Mixed ability means mixed ability

Teams are built from whoever turns up, so you will play alongside someone much better than you and someone much newer. Both are fine. Coaching someone who did not ask for it, or visibly writing off a teammate, ruins a game faster than any scoreline.

Turning up

Be there ten to fifteen minutes early so teams can be made. Tell us if you cannot make it. A no-show costs your credit, and repeated no-shows suspend the account, but the real cost is the game going ahead a player short.

If something happens

Message the support chat. Injuries, an incident with another player, anything that made the game unpleasant. We would much rather hear about it than have you quietly stop coming.
